Google today announced that it will tweak Search results when a developing issue is happening so that users understand things might change.

“While Google Search will always be there with the most useful results we can provide, sometimes the reliable information you’re searching for just isn’t online yet,” Google’s Danny Sullivan writes. “This can be particularly true for breaking news or emerging topics, when the information that’s published first may not be the most reliable.”

Google says that it has trained Search to understand when a news story or other topic is rapidly evolving. And it will now show a notice—“It looks like these results are changing quickly”— indicating that you may want to check back later when there’s information available from a wider range of sources.

This change is rolling out now in the U.S. in English and will expand to other markets quickly. You know, because it’s a rapidly evolving feature.
