Microsoft is celebrating the one-year anniversary of its Viva employee experience platform (EVP) and it has some data to share.

“The pandemic has fundamentally changed how people value where they work, how they work, and most importantly—why they work,” Microsoft chief operating officer Kirk Koenigsbauer writes in the announcement post. “Both the Hybrid Work Paradox and the Great Reshuffle have made it a strategic priority for organizations large and small to transform their culture, values, and operating models to foster human connection, align on a sense of mission, ensure employee wellbeing, and retain their best people.”

As you may recall, Microsoft announced Via one year ago, on February 4, 2021, the product entered public preview two months later, and it was made generally available in early November. It’s designed to help businesses onboard and manage employees in this new hybrid work era. It “brings together knowledge, learning, resources, and insights into an integrated experience that empowers people and teams to be their best, from anywhere,” the firm claims. There are four primary components: Viva Connections, Viva Insights, Viva Learning, and Viva Topics.

In the past year, Microsoft Viva has attracted over 1,000 paying customers—including Blum, Nationwide, Old Mutual, PayPal, REI, and Unilever—and now the software giant is revealing that it has over 10 million monthly active users. Microsoft has also recruited over 200 Viva solution partners—among them Accenture/Avanade, EY, KPMG, PwC, and Tata Consultancy Services—and has trained over 5,000 employees at those partners to be consultants and technical architects.
