Microsoft announced today that its Viva Learning service is now available in public preview to customers with paid subscription access to Microsoft Teams.

“At Microsoft Ignite in March, we shared a new set of product features and admin capabilities, derived from our private preview customer feedback and internal use scenarios,” Microsoft’s John Mighell writes. “With this feedback, we’re continuing to build Viva Learning to seamlessly integrate learning into the tools you already use everyday [sic], you can share learning via chat, pin learning content in existing Teams channels, recommend learning, see all your available learning sources in a personalized view, search across available sources, and so much more.”

Microsoft first announced Viva, its employee experience platform (EXP), ahead of Ignite, in February. At the time, it described Viva as the first EXP built for an era in which many employees will be working from home or in a hybrid model. It is designed to “bring together knowledge, learning, resources, and insights into an integrated experience that empowers people and teams to be their best, from anywhere,” according to Microsoft, and consists of four pieces: Viva Connections, Viva Insights, Viva Topics, and Viva Learning.

Viva Topics was made generally available in February alongside a public preview of Viva Insights. And now, Viva Learning is available in public preview as well. It’s “a central hub for learning in Microsoft 365 where people can discover, share, recommend, and learn from best-in-class content libraries to help teams and individuals make learning a natural part of their day.”

Commercial customers interested in testing the Viva Learning public preview will need a paid subscription access to Microsoft Teams, though Education and Government customers will need to wait for a future release milestone.
